What we’re chatting about this week

Hey this got us thinking…

  • 87% said yes
  • 2% said they don’t know how
  • 5% said no – they have multiple accounts
  • 6% said they don’t know what this means

That got us reading…

In today’s episode, Bryce and Alec discussed the headline of Australian Super posting its’ first annual investment loss since the global financial crisis. But headlines can be dramatic. Australian Super actually outperformed the overall Australian stock market by about 7%. They posted a loss of 3%, while the market was down 10%. So it’s all about the way we look at it… And no investor makes money every single year – it’s about the long-term power of compounding.

This article explains Australian Super’s performance over the last year, with comments from chief investment officer Mark Delaney.

And we listened to…

If you haven’t listened to one of the OG Equity Mates Investing pods from back in the day – this is the week to do it. Bryce and Alec break down all the basics of superannuation – something we all have, but not many of us pay much attention to. This ep was released back in 2019 but many of the lessons discussed still apply. You can even judge us on how far we’ve come since back then.
