It’s the final episode of our summer series, and we’re rounding out the series with a comprehensive list of the best investing resources that Bryce, Alec and our community members have used in their investing journeys. So you’ve downloaded your broker, you’ve done the research, you’ve even been brave enough to buy your first parcel of shares… but what do you do now? At YIGC we talk a lot about having a passive, ‘set and forget’ approach, but if you want to be more hands-on, you’ll need to be more actively involved. In this episode, Sophie and Maddy talk about re-evaluating your goals, looking and assessing your investments, and how to stay informed.

Over the past five weeks, we’ve heard from over a dozen community members about their investing journeys and the most important things they’ve learnt along the way. This week, in our penultimate episode of the summer series, we’re hearing from all these guests again as they tell Bryce and Alec about the biggest myths or barriers they’ve faced with investing.

To buy, or not to buy… that is the question. More importantly, the only way you’ll be able to answer it, is if you know how to make head or tail of your hours of research! In this episode, Maddy and Sophie go through the metrics (aka the numbers) on company report and explain how they approach valuation. They walk through a number of examples, and talk about how different sectors judge value differently.

It’s easy to forget that we all started with that one first investment. In this episode, we’re hearing stories from four of our community members about how they started investing and why they continue to do so. We welcome back Natasha Etschmann (@tashinvests) to the show, as well as Maddie, Dylan and James, who share some great stories with Bryce and Alec.

Analysis paralysis is a real thing, because sometimes there’s so much information on offer, you just don’t know where to begin! In this episode, Sophie and Maddy talk about how they approach building their own individual portfolios, and how they think about diversifying across assets, regions, industry and sectors.

We’ve hit the halfway point of our summer series as we take on the New Year. This is the second episode of our summer series, and today we’re hearing about the biggest mistakes that three of our community members have made. Even the world’s most successful investors make mistakes, the important thing is that we learn from them. Bryce and Alec chat with Queenie Tan (@investwithqueenie), Simon Rinne and Courtney Wade, who share their mistakes in the hope that others might avoid doing the same thing. Of course it wouldn’t be a complete episode without a mistake around crypto investing!

In this episode, Sophie and Maddy talk about how owning stocks will help you earn those extra dollars and cents while you're busy… well, just living your best life! They explain what dividends are, why you might participate in a dividend reinvestment plan (and what that exactly is…), and the concept of capital gains.

We are always told about how important it is to have an investing goal, but what is really the point? And what should we do if we’re struggling to form one? Sophie and Maddy share their short term, medium term, and long term goals, and discuss the strategies they use successfully to keep themselves on track (most of the time).
