Inside a highly lucrative, ethically questionable essay-writing service

@EQUITYMATES|21 October, 2022

This article takes a look at the business of “paper mills”, the services that will write your high school or university essay for you. One such company, Killer Papers, brings in seven figures a year and employs 60 writers who each produce between 200 and a thousand papers every month.

The company claim that they are a tutoring service and that their “custom projects are not intended to be forwarded as finalised work… they are only strictly meant to be used for research and study purposes.” But beyond that claim, it is pretty clear what their services are used for.

Prices range from $17.50 to $32 a page for a service like Killer Papers, who claim all of their ghost writers are American or Canadian college graduates. And then there are cheaper services overseas that charge around $7 per page. It turns out there is a massive business in ghost writing papers.

This article takes a look at the company, those who ghost write, and the broader paper mill industry.
