Andrew Brown

Andrew Brown from East 72 joined us to outline his 14 bold predictions for 2023. We hear predictions for house prices, interest rates, the property market, and the share market in Australia and globally.

Charlie Viola

This year we started a new series called Ask an Adviser. The series features some of Australia’s top financial advisers. We kicked off the series with Charlie Viola, partner and managing director of Wealth at Pitcher Partners. Charlie shares his insights on the key principles of portfolio construction, what to do if you’ve got a lump sum amount to invest, how to think about different types of assets, and when to keep cash on the side.

Chris Joye

In this episode we we’re joined by Coolabah Capital portfolio manager – Chris Joye. Chris warns that when one in four Aussie home loans in 2023 switch from their 2% fixed rates to 6% variable rates, it could be the “mother of all shocks” for household balance sheets. But it’s not just the housing market that Chris was worried about. He also believes that equities have been a bit of a Ponzi scheme for a long time, that there’s going to be no freaking growth for the next few years, and this could spell disaster for everything.

In this episode we welcomed back one of our most popular regular guests, Emma Fisher, Deputy Head of Equities and Portfolio Manager at Airlie Funds Management.

She joins us to talk about the psychology of investing, alongside a stock deep dive on Mineral Resources Limited (ASX: MIN) and PWR Advanced Cooling Technology (ASX: PWH).

Matt Barrie

Matt Barrie – founder and CEO of Freelancer Limited – joined us to share his thoughts on one big topic: the Australian property market. Prior to the show he had recently delivered the opening keynote for the Sydney Morning Herald’s Sydney 2050 Summit. His talk was titled, ‘The Great Australian Scream’. This was an epic conversation – Matt elaborates on all the points he made in his speech, and left us with a lot to think about.

This was a really eye-opening episode! Sam Gordon is the owner and director of Australian Property Scout, an investment Buyers Agency that is on a mission to retire 500 people by 2030. Sam shares his advice on what he’d tell someone like the two of us trying to get into the market, we chat interest rates, and we dig into the pros and cons of rentvesting v owner occupier.

Saurabh Mukherjea

Saurabh Mukherjea is the Founder and Chief Investment Officer of Marcellus Investment Managers. In this episode Saurabh goes into a lot of detail around the bull case for India. This episode had Bryce, Ren, and everyone in the Equity Mates Office buzzing about the investing opportunity in India.
