Bryce Leske: [00:01:28] Equity Mates, Bryce and Ren here, we're just jumping in to let you know about the exciting launch of our new mini-series on the get started investing ETFs for Beginners, launching on the 19th of October. On Monday, 19th of October. On the get started investing Faid Ren. And it is going to be awesome. [00:01:46][17.9]

Alec Renehan: [00:01:47] Yeah, we've been overwhelmed by the number of ETF related questions that have come in during this Covid period. We did a well Covid adjusted live show where we jumped on a webinar and tried to answer as many questions as possible. But there's just so many coming in, which is great. And so we figured there was enough there to really do a three part series to unpack the basics in Episode one episode to talk about everything that's out there in the world of ETFs, everything that you can invest in through ETFs. And then number three, what you do after you buy. And for me, that was a particularly interesting one, because I'll be honest, there were some things that I should have been doing that I wasn't. So I learned a lot from it. And I'm pretty confident, you know, people who are even seasoned ETF investors will will learn a thing or two from this series. [00:02:41][54.3]

Bryce Leske: [00:02:42] You know, that's a good point, Ren. We have, as always, brought in some experts to help us unpack all there is to know. So we've teamed up with our good friends over at Beta Shares to walk us through those sort of three key areas of ETFs. And to your point, Ren, even if you have been investing in ETFs for a while now and you may think that you have the basics Covid, there are still some sort of gems of wisdom in here that everyone should be considering along their investing journey. So this is on to get started investing feed. So if you haven't subscribed to that, head over now to make sure that you get to the launch episodes when they do hit the airwaves, we've kept this at a really basic level so that everyone can understand it and take something away from it, as we say. And one of our policies here at Equity Mates is we hate jargon. So we've kept this jargon free. So and Ren. [00:03:37][55.0]

Alec Renehan: [00:03:38] Yeah. And as a little tasa, you know, we have our two K Equity Mates policies. No. One, we hate jargon. And number two, we hate phase. Have you actually introduced a third official Equity Mates policy and we're not going to say what it is on this and this little teaser here. You've got to listen to the series. But Bryce has introduced a third official Equity Mates policy. So get around that when [00:04:08][29.3]

Bryce Leske: [00:04:08] and I assure you that it's a policy most beginner investors and in fact every investor faces when they buy a stock. [00:04:16][8.1]

Alec Renehan: [00:04:17] So I'm confident this is applicable for every investor. Yes. [00:04:21][4.1]

Bryce Leske: [00:04:22] So, look, we're pumped for this is going to be supported by a video series as well. So we're keen to get that going over in our YouTube channel. So equally, if you're not, subscribe to us on YouTube, go over and hit the subscribe button and you'll get a notification when we launch those episodes as well. [00:04:40][18.2]

Alec Renehan: [00:04:41] Now, Equity Mates, one more thing I'm sure you've seen on our social media, our build an ETF competition. Hopefully, you've submitted your ideas for a chance to win a thousand dollars. If you want to hear us announce the winner and say if you did win or if you haven't entered, but you just want to hear us have a chat about some of the entries. There are some crackers that have come through. We're going to be releasing a bonus episode on the get started investing Faid just before we launch this ATFP series. So if you're not interested in our ATFP Basics series, but I don't know why, why you wouldn't be interested. Make sure you subscribe to the feed to hear the results of this competition and hear us talk about some of our favorite entries. Yes. [00:05:30][48.8]

Bryce Leske: [00:05:31] So a lot of exciting things coming up. Nineteenth of October, Monday, 19th of October. Put it in your diary. Subscribe to get started investing. And look, we'll chat to you then. I guess. Ren sounds good. [00:05:44][13.1]

Bryce Leske: [00:05:49] Ren, it's not surprising news to the Equity Mates community that I have a real frustration with the fact that you only have one designer t shirt in your wardrobe, and that is the Equity Mates shirt. What are we going to do about it? [00:05:59][10.1]

Alec Renehan: [00:05:59] Well, I think, first of all, you should just calm down on worrying about what I'm wearing. But that is why I'm a big fan of expanding the Equity Mates Mirch range. So I have a few more options when I wake up in the morning [00:06:13][13.5]

Bryce Leske: [00:06:13] or in the perfect partner to expand our merch range would be square. Square is more than a little white credit card reader. They have the tools to connect every side of our merchandise business, even setting up our website. It's super easy to grow our business online. [00:06:29][15.7]

Alec Renehan: [00:06:30] That's right, Bryce e-commerce is constantly changing. You, as the self-described retail whisperer are all over that. We're going to bricks and clicks. We're going to e-commerce. Retail is a tough landscape that's constantly changing. And Square is allowing us to keep up with that changing shape of commerce and giving us the tools to sell, grow and thrive online with [00:06:54][25.0]

Bryce Leske: [00:06:55] powerful tools for e-commerce payments and the ability to future proof. Our merchandise business square seems to be the perfect partner Ren. [00:07:03][8.2]

Alec Renehan: [00:07:03] So get your business online today head to square dot com to see how you can grow more online. Do more, sell more, grow more online square dotcom. [00:07:03][0.0]

More About

Meet your hosts

  • Alec Renehan

    Alec Renehan

Alec developed an interest in investing after realising he was spending all that he was earning. Investing became his form of 'forced saving'. While his first investment, Slater and Gordon (SGH), was a resounding failure, he learnt a lot from that experience. He hopes to share those lessons amongst others through the podcast and help people realise that if he can make money investing, anyone can.
  • Bryce Leske

    Bryce Leske

Bryce has had an interest in the stock market since his parents encouraged him to save 50c a fortnight from the age of 5. Once he had saved $500 he bought his first stock - BKI - a Listed Investment Company (LIC), and since then hasn't stopped. He hopes that Equity Mates can help make investing understandable and accessible. He loves the Essendon Football Club, and lives in Sydney.
